The Janis Tompkins Fund and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation

By CityNews Ottawa

This year CKBY celebrates 50 years of playing Country Music in Ottawa & the Valley. As part of their 50th Anniversary, they have launched The Janis Tompkins Fund in support of the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Janis Tompkins was a vibrant and integral part of CKBY for almost 2 decades before her sudden passing last Spring.  She was a fierce member of the Ottawa Valley community, especially in the town of Carleton Place where she and her sons lived.

On this week's An Hour To Give, Sam talk with Janis' colleagues at CKBY and Rogers Sports and Media, her sons and members of the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Janis was a passionate supporter of the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation and was working with them on fundraising for the hospital’s new Emergency Room before she passed.  One of her goals was to work with our Rogers stations to amplify the hospital’s message and help meet their goals.

Janis would have been a HUGE part of CKBY's 50th anniversary celebrations so the station is carrying on her mission. Their goal is to raise funds and make an impact in Jani's honour, the way she did on so many of us at CKBY and in the Ottawa Valley.

The Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation in partnership with CKBY and Rogers Sports and Media presents The Janis Tompkins Fund honoring the legacy of Janis Tompkins.
