Family of five forced out of home due to fire

A family of five has been forced from their home after a blaze in the Heatherington area. 
  
Just before 8:00 p.m. Monday night, Ottawa Fire Services were called by Ottawa Police about black smoke coming from a home at 104 Irma Private.

Crews determined it was kitchen fire in the end unit of a row home.  

The blaze was quickly extinguished and prevented from extending beyond the kitchen.

A family of five, two adults and three young children were safely evacuated and will be assisted by Victim Services. 

Damage is estimated at $40,000.
