Local Para-Athlete wins three medals at The Canadian Track and Field Championships

Shanna Boutilier, 22, runs as a para-athlete with The Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club in Ottawa.
She was in Montreal this week for the The Canadian Track and Field Championships held at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard.
On July 25, She competed in the 400 metre Para Ambulatory category and received silver medal for her time of 1:06:38.
On July 26, she competed in the 200 metre Para Ambulatory category and received a bronze medal for her time of 30.70.
That same day, she also competed in the 100 metre Para Ambulatory category and received a bronze medal for her time of 14.79, a season best.
She was also the Canadian record holder in the 400 metre category earlier this summer.
Boutilier is a class T-46 para-athlete who has Erb's Palsy from a birth injury on her right side. Erb's palsy is a paralysis of the arm caused by an injury to the upper group of the arm's main nerves. As a result, she has limited range of motion and use of her right arm, which qualifies her to be in an ambulatory category.
She has been competing as a para-athlete since 2015 and is coached by Hugh Conlin.
