E-bike driver dies in crash on Hunt Club Road in Nepean

A man in his 50's is dead after a collision between an e-bike and an SUV on Hunt Club Road at Merivale Road in Nepean.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection around 6:40 a.m., as the e-bike driver was trapped under the other vehicle.
An off-duty firefighter attempted to free the patient from underneath the SUV with the assistance of bystanders.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, firefighters had freed the patient and had initiated resuscitation. The man had suffered multisystem trauma and was in cardiac arrest.
Paramedics continued the resuscitation, but unfortunately the patient didn't respond to the treatments and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ottawa police have re-opened Hunt Club Road at Merivale Road as the investigation into the crash continues.
