One more O-Train on the Confederation Line, but still short of a full complement

By Jason White

The city expects one more O-Train on the Confederation Line than yesterday, but is still short of the number of working trains that should be in service.

In a memo, the city's general manager of transportation services says that the private consortium that maintains the Confederation Line, Rideau Transit Maintenance, planned to launch 10 trains for the start of morning service, Wednesday. Nine were in service during Tuesday's peak commute times.

The Confederation Line requires 13 trains to run full service; with only ten operating, trains were expected to run every five to six minutes, Wednesday morning.

Multiple trains remain out of service after a weekend of electrical problems, which has been linked to the weekend snowfall.

OC Transpo continues to provide supplemental bus service into downtown, from Tunney's Pasture, Hurdman and Blair. Transit officials cancelled 49 morning trips on an assortment of routes in order to free up enough buses to operate the supplemental service.
