Phase 2 of Ottawa's light rail project is going ahead.
Ottawa City Councillors spent the majority of Wednesday debating the $4.6-billion extension to the LRT system — a small group of them hoping to get more time to review the project and get public feedback.
In the end, the motion to delay the vote was turned down, and city council voted 19-3 to see Phase 2 move forward.
The three to vote against the project included Diane Deans, Rick Chiarelli and Shawn Menard.
LRT Phase 2 includes 24 LRT stations and 44 km of new rail. Construction on the extended rail lines is expected to begin in 2019.
