Paul Dewar to receive key to the city (AUDIO)

Dewar will honored for his contributions to education and youth empowerment.

A former Ottawa MP is being honoured for his contributions to the capital and to his country.

Paul Dewar will receive the key to the city, in a ceremony this evening at Ottawa City Hall. Dewar will be presented the honour by the mayor, for his contributions to education and youth empowerment.

Before serving as the MP for Ottawa Centre from 2006 to 2015, he was an elementary school teacher who worked with students who have special needs.

Dewar was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in February.
