Rideau Canal Skateway temporarily shuts due to mild weather

It was a short return following a four-day closure, but the Rideau Canal Skateway is be closed to the public once again.
Incoming mild weather has NCC crews closing the entire length of the skateway as of 10 p.m. Wednesday, February 16.
The NCC says this is a temporary closure due to adverse weather conditions and their negative impact to the ice.
Red flags will be hoisted and all access points will be closed.
The NCC did not mention when skaters can expect a return to the ice.
Environment Canada has put Ottawa under a special weather statement as it’s calling for rain starting Wednesday night and milder temperatures hovering around 6 C.
On Thursday, Ottawa can expect the rain to continue but then turn into snow. Residents can expect between 10 and 20 cm of snow with a high of 8 C.
