Rotating postal strikes come to Ottawa

The postal union has set its sights on the nation's capital, as rotating strikes at Canada Post continue for another day.
Postal workers in Ottawa, Arnprior and Renfrew walked off the job as of 6 a.m., Wednesday.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says walkouts also started in Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I., just after midnight local time on Wednesday, and at 1 a.m. ET in Joliette, Que.
On Tuesday, Canada Post workers in Petawawa/Deep River and Smiths Falls walked off the job and will stay on strike for a second day. About 6,000 workers who walked off the job in Montreal have returned to work.
CUPW and the postal service have been unable to reach new collective agreements for the two bargaining units in 10 months of negotiations.
Last Tuesday, Labour Minister Patty Hajdu appointed Morton Mitchnick, a former chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board, to help the two parties resolve their contract differences.
