Standoff in Gatineau results in two arrests

By OttawaMatters Staff

A standoff with Gatineau Police ended Saturday when two people were taken into police custody after barricading themselves in a home.

Police had closed several streets in the area around Boulevard de l'Europe and Rue de Londres while they surrounded the home.

They arrived on scene just after 4 a.m. and placed the two people under arrest at 6:10 p.m., for a total of about 14 hours.

Some nearby homes in the Plateau district of Aylmer were evacuated, but merely as a precaution.

There were no injuries during the arrest, and police are not identifying the two people.
