Three treated for injuries after Nepean high-rise fire

Three people were treated by paramedics after a residential high-rise fire in Nepean.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to several 911 calls around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, reporting a fire on the eighth floor of an apartment building on Meadowlands Drive, near Chesteron Drive.
Based on information gathered by OFS dispatch, a working fire was declared while crews were on route to the scene. When crews arrived on scene, flames could be seen coming from an eighth floor apartment.
The fire, which was contained to one unit, was under control shortly after 12:30 a.m. The building was ventilated, and most residents were able to return to their apartments.
The Ottawa Paramedic Service tells CityNews Ottawa three people were treated for minor injuries sustained in the fire.
There is no word on what caused the fire and an OFS investigator has been dispatched to the scene.
The Canadian Red Cross was called in to assist those affected by the fire.
