Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign kicks off in support of Snowsuit Fund

By Alex Black

Good news for anyone looking to indulge their sweet tooth and support a good cause.

Smile Cookies are back at Tim Hortons.

The annual fundraiser sees 100 per cent of proceeds from each $1 cookie go to local charities.

In Ottawa, the icing-topped chocolate chunk cookies raise funds for the Snowsuit Fund, which provides children from low-incomes homes with winter clothing.

Susan Dennison, owner of multiple Tim Hortons and secretary of the Snowsuit Fund, says despite the pandemic, the charity managed to sell 187,000 cookies during the 2020 campaign.

“If you think back to last September, we were all struggling with restrictions and the pandemic,” she tells CityNews Ottawa. “Our customers, as always, come to the table, and support our program so that was amazing. And then the charity, Snowsuit Fund did a great job with the bulk and the corporate orders, which really moved the needle.”
