University, college U-Pass holders get free month of rides in May

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Ottawa’s university and college students with U-Passes are getting a free ride — on the city’s transit, that is.

Staring on Monday, April 25, and lasting for the month of May, U-Pass holders will get to ride OC Transpo buses, trains and Para Transpo vehicles free of charge.

Those eligible must have been a student during the winter academic term at either the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Université Saint-Paul or Algonquin College.

According to OC Transpo, outreach staff will verify the validity of current students’ U-Pass by tracking the 16-digit electronic serial number on the back of the pass and the serial number of the new QR code pass.

The name written not the back should be the same as on the U-Pass, as they will need to be used together.

For more information on how to obtain a U-Pass, visit the OC Transpo website.
