Luckily, no one was seriously injured when a five-ton pick-up truck smashed into the back of an Ottawa Police Service cruiser.
An officer had made a traffic stop in the right turning lane of West Hunt Club Road at Cleopatra Drive, around 10 a.m., Wednesday. He had just returned to his vehicle to write a document when the cruiser was hit from behind.
The officer was taken to hospital and released with minor injuries.
The driver of the truck is now facing one count of careless driving.
Police are reminding the public to slow down and move over when you see emergency vehicle or tow truck, as speed was a factor in this crash.
