Man charged with first degree murder in Seeley’s Bay

The Leeds County OPP has charged a man in connection with a homicide that happened near Seeley’s Bay.

On Tuesday at about 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call at a residence on Highway 15, located about 40 minutes south of Smiths Falls.

Police found a deceased man at the location.

Two other people sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital by paramedics.

Jay Slade, 36, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with:

  • first degree murder
  • indignity to a dead body
  • two counts of assault causing bodily harm

OPP continue to investigate with the help of the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services, OPP Crime Unit and East Region Forensic Identification Services.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this point, OPP say.
