OPP identify deceased in Highway 417 double-fatal collision near Panmure Road

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is identifying the deceased in a fatal crash along Highway 417near Panmure Road as a 54-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both from Ottawa.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 417 in the Carp-Kinburn area,around 12:52 a.m., Monday, August 23.
The initial investigation found a tractor trailer collided with the back of a stopped utility trailer and a pickup truck.
Investigators have since determined that a man and woman were struck while standing between the utility trailer and pickup truck in a live lane of the highway.
The deceased have been identified as Mario Bernier and Jessica Derasp.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
