Leeds, Grenville, Lanark’s top doctor doesn’t have problem with Ottawans visiting for second dose

As the vaccine rollout in the region continues to make significant progress, the top doctor for the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit (LGLDHU) says Ottawa residents are welcome to come to her region to get their second shot of a COVID-19 vaccine.

According to Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paula Stewart, 82 per cent of residents 18 and up have received one dose, while 38 per cent of those 12 to 17 have gotten their first jab. More than 12 per cent of adult residents have received both jabs.

“I expect that some of our people are going into Ottawa to get [their second COVID-19 vaccine] depending when they can get one, when it's convenient,” Dr. Stewart told CityNews Ottawa. “This a collective response right across the province.”

She adds, they are working very hard as a region to ensure as many people as possible are protected against COVID-19.

The doctor says cases still arise in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark but quick contact tracing is used to ensure any further transmission doesn't happen.
