Wind knocks out power to thousands in Ottawa

A windy night helped cut power to thousands of homes across the capital.

More than 6,000 customers were in the dark at some point, as winds gusted over 80 km/h.

But after HydroOne worked through the night, nearly everyone’s power is back online now.

“The storm center is moving through Northern Quebec and the Maritimes and the very strong wind will continue to move eastwards,” says 1310news meteorologist Harold Hosein.

However, the wind will give way to some snow early in the week.

Hosein anticipates about five centimeters from tomorrow night in to Monday.
