Busy night for Ottawa firefighters

Another early morning blaze, Wednesday, destroyed a home in west Ottawa.
The call came into the fire department at around 3:15 a.m. about the home at 1444 Lexington St..
When crews arrived they found smoke coming out of the one story bungalow, one man was inside and had to be treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
It’s believed the fire started in the basement and burnt through the floor.
Damage is pegged at $225 thousand. The cause remains under investigation.
Meantime, the fire department was also called out just before 1 a.m., Wednesday, about smoke billowing from Tosca’s Restaurant on O’Conner Street.
A chair inside the business caught fire. It was quickly removed and the building ventilated.
There were no injuries and the damage is being calculated.
