46 dead in NATO helicopter crash

A NATO helicopter crash overnight in east Afghanistan claimed the lives of 31 U.S. troops and seven Afghan soldiers. Provincial spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said coalition and Afghan officials are investigating the crash site in Sayd Abad district of Wardak province on Saturday.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid is claiming it was a U.S. military helicopter. He said in a written statement Saturday that NATO attacked a house in Sayd Abad where insurgent fighters were gathering Friday night.
Mujahid stated that the Taliban fired on NATO and downed the helicopter, killing the crew. He says eight insurgents also died.
