OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators will attempt to take down the New Jersey Devils for a fifth consecutive time at Scotiabank Place, Tuesday night. The 7th place Senators trail the 6th place Devils by three points in the Eastern Conference standings.
Ottawa has struggled as of late, winning only five of their last ten games. The Senators will need to continue getting points down the stretch to make the playoffs, as they only lead the ninth place Buffalo Sabres by six points.
“Every game we play, we have a chance – if we win – to gain on somebody or put someone farther behind us, which is everyone’s goal at this time of the year,” coach Paul MacLean told the Senators’ official website.
The Senators are three points behind the Boston Bruins for the Northeast Division lead with nine games remaining.
Meanwhile, forward Jason Spezza will not play tonight due to an illness. He is replaced by forward Bobby Butler.
Senators goaltender Ben Bishop makes his 7th consecutive start in net, with a 3-1-2 record in six career games.
Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
