Education minister asks elementary teachers to return to bargaining table

TORONTO – Ontario’s education minister is asking elementary teachers to return to the bargaining table.
Laurel Broten says other teacher unions are still in contract talks.
She says the provincial forum has been useful in setting a collective bargaining framework in the past.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario, Broten says, left the provincial discussion table after just one hour.
Collective agreements expire in August.
Broten won’t say what might happen if the elementary teachers opt to go straight into local bargaining.
