Community Cup soccer tournament takes over Brewer Park

OTTAWA – Thousands of soccer players and fans are descending on the Capital Sunday.
Over 2,000 people are expected to attend the Community Cup co-ed soccer tournament at Brewer Park, on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A couple of trophies are up for grabs at the tournament.
There’s something planned for everyone with children’s activities in the Kids Zone (complete with games, crafts and entertainment designed for age groups 2 to 14), a Seniors Zone (featuring a nature walk and some balance training), and many other activities and entertainment.
The Community Cup is a free multigenerational and multicultural community building event designed to engage the community and reduce isolation and challenges faced by many newcomers.
The soccer tournament is part of “Welcoming Ottawa Week” which creates recurrent opportunities for the community to give a warm welcome to immigrants in Canada. The week long event is meant to to help newcomers and long-time Ottawa residents have quality-based recreational and intellectual interactions to foster trust and understanding.
