OTTAWA — Police are trying to re-trace the last steps of a 31-year-old woman who was found dead in the Rideau River, late last month.
The woman’s body was found on August 26, between Vincent Massey Park and Carleton University. Police say foul play is not suspected.
Ottawa Police have released pictures of the woman and some of her missing belongings.
“It might help somebody to identify the possibility that they saw her that day,” said Cst. Chuck Benoit, “That would clarify a lot to the investigators about her history that day.”
Police are also looking to determine the cause of death.
“From the family, the history and all the evidence that was gathered, there’s nothing the investigator could see as a suicide,” said Benoit “It could have been an accidental death; that hasn’t been determined yet.”
Benoit adds police are trying to bring closure to the family.
Investigators have identified the woman, but are not releasing her name at the request of her family.
