Inexperienced Jets seek franchise’s first playoff victory in Game 1 at Ducks

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The next playoff win for the Jets will also be their first, not just since moving to Winnipeg but in the history of the franchise.

The Jets will dress nine players with no Stanley Cup playoff experience whatsoever tomorrow night for Game 1 of their first-round series with the Anaheim Ducks.

Starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec, centres Bryan Little and Mark Scheifele and defencemen Tobias Enstrom and Jacob Trouba will be among those making their playoff debut.

Veteran fourth-liner Jim Slater is the only player remaining from the franchise’s last playoff team in 2007, when the Atlanta Thrashers were swept by the New York Rangers.

Meanwhile, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Francois Beauchemin were part of a Cup run with Anaheim that same year.

Jets head coach Paul Maurice said Enstrom is fine despite missing today’s practice, while injured forward Mathieu Perreault (lower-body) will be a game-time decision.
