OTTAWA — Another page has been revealed in the plan to redevelop Lebreton Flats; both plans each include a library.
The competing proposals were submitted to the NCC last month, before the city’s library board and Library and Archives Canada began exploring a potential partnership on a new building for both.
The proposals, one from the Ottawa Senators and another from Gatineau developer Devcore Group, both include NHL arenas. Both also include libraries, but it’s not known how large each proposal’s library is, or whether they could be expanded to accommodate a new central branch as well as a new home for Library and Archives Canada.
Both proponents are forbidden from speaking about their proposals by an NCC gag order.
The two proposals will be unveiled to the public January 26, before open houses on the proposals at the Canadian War Museum.
