Canada Day 2019: What’s open and closed in Ottawa

Most businesses in the ByWard Market will be open on Monday.

Many grocery stores, malls and retail outlets in Ontario and Quebec will be closed on the holiday Monday.

The Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Other malls around Ottawa, including Bayshore, St. Laurent, Place d'Orleans and Les Promenades Gatineau will be closed.

The Loblaws and Metro grocery stores on Rideau Street will be open 24 hours, while the Whole Foods store at Lansdowne will open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.

All LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed on Canada Day.

In Quebec, SAQ liquor stores are expected to remain open, except for outlets located inside malls.

Cannabis stores in Ottawa will be open on Canada Day, but Gatineau's cannabis store will be closed.

Banks will be closed on Monday.

Parking/Roads

All City of Ottawa parking regulations and restrictions will apply on Canada Day.

Transit

OC Transpo will offer free service on Canada Day and operating a special holiday schedule with extra service during the day and after the fireworks.

Para Transpo will offer free service on Canada Day.

Garbage, green bin and recycling collection

There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Canada Day. Collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

The Karsh-Masson Gallery and the Barbara Ann Scott Gallery will be open. The City Hall Art Gallery will be closed for installation.

City services

Ottawa City Hall and all seven Client Service Centres, including the Government Service Centre, located at 110 Laurier Ave., are closed on Canada Day.

The City's 311 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters.
