Giant Tiger recalls frozen profiteroles, eclairs due to Salmonella

By Jason White

Certain frozen desserts have been recalled due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

Giant Tiger Stores Limited has recalled Celebrate brand frozen profiteroles and eclairs for a third time in less than a year. Consumers should not consume these products and retailers, restaurants and institutions are being told to not sell or use the recalled products.

This recall was triggered by findings by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. A recall was previously issued for these products on April 26, 2019 and again on July 25, 2019. The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace.

The recall affects 365-gram packages of Celebrate brand Mini Chocolate Eclairs (UPC 8 858762 720047) and 325-gram packages of Celebrate brand Classic Profiteroles (UPC 8 858762 720009).

The affected products were sold at several Giant Tiger stores, including its Smiths Falls and Stittsville locations as well as the store attached to its distribution centre on Walkley Road in Ottawa.
