Halloween spirit still very much alive at Saunders Farm

By Alex Black

While things look a little different due to health and safety restrictions, there is still plenty of Halloween spirit to be found through Saunders Farm's annual Haunting Season and Fright Fest events.

Tens of thousands of people normally attend the farm during the Halloween season, but this year events will operate between two and 10 per cent of its normal capacity in order to adhere to physical distancing rules.

“We are only allowing just under 100 people per timeslot,” said farm director of fun Mark Saunders. “We have a 30-acre property — so that's like three people every acre.”

The event is being held completely outdoors this year to ensure safety guidelines can be met.

Ticket prices are cheaper then previous years because organizers have had to pair down the number of attractions and staff due to the pandemic.

Also, while dressing up hasn't been allowed in the past, to avoid confusion between guests and staff, the paired down capacity on site means costumes are being encouraged this year.

Visits must be booked in advance in order to control the number of people on the farm and walk-ups are not allowed.

The Halloween season at Saunders Farm runs from Friday, September 26, through Sunday, November 1.
