Human remains found in Smiths Falls may be linked to July missing person investigation
UPDATE, October 1: Police say no foul play is suspected in the death of a man whose remains were found in the area.

The Smiths Falls Police Service is investigating the discovery of human remains in a wooded area on William Street West.

Officers say the remains were found Monday, September 20, at about 4:30 p.m. by someone cycling in the area.
Residents can expect to see a heavy police presence as Ontario Provincial Police officers and the Coroner’s Office help to conduct a thorough search of the area. The public is asked to stay clear if possible.
The investigation is ongoing and police say the remains may be linked to a missing person report from July of this year.
More information is expected to be released pending further investigation and the identity of the person found.
