Inquest into death of construction worker postponed

The Ontario government's inquest into the death of a construction worker who was killed on a job in Ottawa in March of 2016 is being postponed. 

Olivier Bruneau, 24, died in hospital from injuries sustained while working at a construction site at Carling Avenue and Preston Street. 

Bruneau was working in an excavation, nine-stories below ground, when a large chunk of ice fell off the wall and struck him. He died in hospital from injuries he sustained from the incident. 

The province charged and convicted Claridge Homes, the Bellai Brothers Construction company as well as site supervisors Michael Lwow and Leo Simard. 

The inquest into Bruneau’s death was set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on July 25 at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Kanata and last approximately five days and hear from 17 witnesses.

No other details were provided as to why the inquest is being postponed. More information will be provided when available.
