Driver stopped going 112 km/h in 60 km/h zone in Carp

Police laid an impaired driving charge after clocking a vehicle travelling 52 km/h over the speed limit in Carp.

Officers said the incident happened last week, and during the stop, the driver failed a roadside breath test. They were arrested and charged with impaired driving.

They also face an additional charge of stunt driving for the high rate of speed the vehicle was travelling at.

After being taken to the police detachment, further testing showed breath readings of 340 mg and 320 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, approximately four times the legal limit, the release notes.

“This incident is a stark reminder of the risks posed by impaired and high-risk driving behaviours,” police said. “Driving at extreme speeds while impaired creates an immediate and serious danger to everyone on the road.”
