Three protesters arrested during ‘loud’ demonstration on Parliament Hill

By CityNews Ottawa staff

Three people have been arrested in connection with a protest on Parliament Hill.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) was on scene in the late afternoon Wednesday, Oct. 4 to ensure public safety was maintained during a demonstration by some members of the ‘Save the Children Convoy.’

According to the OPS, some protestors were using large speakers and loud hailers, which is against city bylaws.

After multiple interactions with police, three people were arrested for obstruction and later released on conditions.

In a statement on ‘X,’ the OPS said, “while it is the duty of police to support legal demonstrations, we will not tolerate behaviours that endanger public safety or violations of the Criminal Code, By-laws or Liquor Licence and Control Act.”
