Four displaced, no injuries in $650K Christmas Day ByWard Market fire

Ottawa Fire Service (OPS) knocked down a two-alarm house fire in the ByWard Market that left four displaced.

Fire crews were called to a home on St. Patrick Street between Cumberland Street and King Edward Avenue at around 12:49 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters got the fire under control by 2:51 p.m. and no injuries have been reported.

The estimated damage is around $650,000.

Four adults were displaced by the fire and are being helped by the Red Cross and Salvation Army.

OFS said the cause of fire was undetermined but the Fire Investigator believed it may have been electrical in nature.
