Firefighters battle garage fire and windy conditions in Orléans

There are no injuries reported after a garage fire in Orléans.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a single family home on Du Plateau Street near Avebury Drive just before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17 after a 9-1-1 call from the homeowner.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes and were met with flames coming from the roof of a two-storey home.

A working fire was declared and crews quickly got to work.

Also, as wind was an extra factor, firefighters had to protect exposure units from the quickly spreading fire.

The fire was declared under control shortly after 9:30 p.m. and a fire investigator was dispatched to determine the cause and origin.
