Bank Street construction making progress in Findlay Creek community

A several months long project on Bank Street in the south end of Ottawa has made some progress, according to the area city councillor.

Steve Desroches, Councillor for the Riverside South-Findlay Creek community, said in his weekly newsletter there are updates on the project, including steps forward on construction and possible noise impacts.

Storm sewer work has made headway including a tie-in to be completed in the next two weeks and the installation of one through the Miikana/Blais Road intersection.

Rock removal is ongoing, which will cause noise and vibrations. Other impacts include the use of back-hoes, loaders, hydro-vacuum equipment, truck loading and saw-cutting.

On July 2, the city closed the portion of Bank Street, south from Shuttleworth Drive to south of Miikana/Blais Road.

Construction is set to last until Dec. 20.

The project is related to the Bank Street widening and reconstruction “a multi-year project that will see the two-kilometres stretch of Bank Street, from south of Leitrim Road to south of Blais Road, widened from two lanes to four.”
