High school in Kemptville closed for second day due to threats

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are on scene at St. Michael Catholic High School for a second day in a row following threats.

According to police, there was another threat of violence against the school on Oct. 4. The day before, telephone calls came in overnight from two individuals making threats against St. Michael Catholic High School and Seaway District High School in Iroquois, Ont.

“We understand the stress and anxiety this causes for students, parents and school staff,” OPP said.

Officials from the Grenville OPP detachment are assisting with “all” resources available regionally and provincially. Police say they are trying to track down those responsible for this week’s threats.

“We are working to track the phones used to make these threats, but that does take time,” officials noted.

Even in suspect incidents, police say they take all threats seriously.
