Driver goes through crash blockade; another fails to go at green light

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped two drivers over the weekend for impaired driving and laid multiple charges.

One incident happened just before 11:00 p.m. on Jan. 19. Emergency crews were on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive clearing a previous crash. All lanes had been shut down, except the HOV lane.

The driver went through the scene where multiple emergency officials were working and was stopped by police.

“This was especially dangerous because of the numerous emergency services personnel that were on scene, attending to the collision victims,” OPP said in a post on X.

As a result, police charged Marc Beck, 56, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

He is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

OPP also caught an impaired driver who pulled off Highway 417 at March Road. A patrol officer saw the vehicle in front of them not go through a green light. The officer pulled over the driver and a roadside screening device was used and they were brought back to a detachment for further testing.

Ngoc Vo, 33, is facing:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Green light – fail to proceed as directed x 2

Both drivers received 90-day driving suspension, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days, police note.
