Barrhaven e-scooter driver seriously injured; separate crash leaves another dead

Ottawa police are looking into separate collisions, both involving e-scooters in the nation’s capital, that happened in the past few days.
On Tuesday, officers were called to a crash in Barrhaven around 9:30 a.m. involving a scooter and a cube van. The driver of the scooter, a man in his 20s, is in life-threatening condition, the press release reads.
It happened at the intersection of Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive.
This comes just days after a fatal collision involving another e-scooter driver in another part of the city.
On June 14, police responded to the 2100 block of Carling Avenue around 8:05 p.m. When they arrived, they found an SUV and an e-scooter near Fairlawn Avenue.
The scooter rider, a 55-year-old man, was suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital by paramedics, where he later died.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed either of the collisions to speak to police. Anyone with footage from their vehicle or homes/ businesses nearby is also asked to call officials at 613‑236‑1222, extension 2345.
