Ottawa 67’s hold fundraiser in support of Neil Doef

OTTAWA – A fundraiser was held in support of Neil Doef at the Ottawa 67’s-Peterborough Petes game Sunday.
Doef, 17, suffered a severe spinal cord injury while playing in the World Junior A Challenge in Saskatoon last month, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
At Sunday’s 67’s game, his Smiths Falls Bears teammates took to the ice as part of a pre-game ceremony, that also featured Neil’s grandfather, and collected donations for DoefStrong.
The Ottawa Nepean Canadians Sport Club kicked off fundraising with a cheque for $1,000, while the 67’s also contributed proceeds from the 50/50 draw.
Signed jerseys were also donated for an online auction that you can bid until the end of the month here.
Meantime, it was a 6-point weekend for the 67’s, who beat the Owen Sound Attack 4-2 Friday, and edged The Peterborough Petes 3-2 in OT in game one of a home-and-home series Saturday.
The 67’s came out on top again Sunday, beating the Petes 5-1.
