Diversity and inclusion top priorities for Ottawa Catholic School Board candidate

By CityNews Staff

An Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) trustee candidate wants to further diversity, inclusion and equity in schools and society.

Jeff Darwin, who is running for South Ottawa, told The Sam Laprade Show on Aug. 24 that he will continue to be an ally for the LGBTQ2S+ community and wants to ensure transgender kids are protected.

“I want to do that in the context of I'm representing all the parents in the south end of the city,” he said.

A graduate of the Catholic system in Ottawa, Darwin said he benefited from a faith-grounded education and wants to ensure his grandchildren have the same opportunity.

Previously in the financial services industry for 31 years, as well as some management consulting, Darwin hopes to bring tranquillity and experience to the board.

“I've got some experience dealing with boards with a lot of diverse interests and representing a lot of people's interests,” he said.
