Ottawa’s top pet names of 2023

How popular are your pet’s names?

Charlie, Stella and Max were some of top choices for Ottawa’s most popular dog names of 2023, with pet-lovers in the capital bringing Tim into the running for the first time after Ottawa Senator’s Tim Stutzle according to the pet-sitting site Rover.

But it was Luna that seemed to really take off, nabbing the top spot for female names for both dogs and cats in Ottawa and across Canada.

Though they didn’t make the top 5, Ottawans decided that Greta, for dogs, and Ivy, for cats, were good choices this year, making them the top trending names of 2023.

Food themes are ever-popular for cats, especially Jellybean, Cheddar and Cucumber.

The most popular celebrity based names are Donnie, Elton and Ed, though Pedro is climbing the charts, up by 51 per cent.
