Sex assault charges against recently released Redblacks DB

The Ottawa Redblacks have cut Defensive Back Teague Sherman after word that the 30-year-old Edmonton native is facing sexual assault charges.

The football club released a statement saying it, “is aware of sexual assault charges filed against Teague Sherman, and the player has been released.”

The Canadian Press confirms Sherman is facing two counts of sexual assault.

The Redblacks announced on Saturday that the club had released Sherman in its transaction announcements.

The DB appeared in three games for Ottawa this season.

The team's statement added the organization takes, “any allegation of violence against women very seriously,” but would be offering no further comment.
