A Prescott man is facing charges after a driver fled the scene of a single-vehicle collision in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of a dispute at a residence on Millar Road, in Spencerville.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a vehicle lying on its side in a ditch, near the residence of the person who filed the initial complaint.

Police say the driver, who was identified as a man wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, had fled the scene on foot by the time they arrived.

A short time later, police responded to an unwanted person complaint at a nearby residence, located the suspect and made an arrest.

According to police, the suspect also caused damage to a police cruiser following the arrest.

Michael Vandine, 43, faces the following charges:
  • Operation while impaired
  • Unlawfully in dwelling house
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused was held for a bailing hearing by video on Sunday, May 30.
