Investigators found no working smoke alarms in the home on Caron Street.
Crews were called early Friday morning to a home, where the body of a man was recovered from the scene. The man's identity has not been released.
Ontario law requires working smoke alarms on each level of a home, and outside any sleeping areas.
Carbon monoxide alarms are also required in homes with natural gas, propane or wood burning appliances.
Fines for not having the alarms in place are $360.
