Fans of Ottawa’s Comiccon will have to wait another year before they can whip out and show off their most extravagant cosplay and meet their favourite celebrities as the event has been postponed.
In a statement on its website, organizers say the ninth edition of Comiccon — which was originally scheduled for September 10 to 12 — will now be pushed back to September 9 to 11, 2022 and will take place at its usual venue, the EY Centre.
Organizers say they’ve decided to cancel the event due to the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation and availability constraints of the convention centre.
“The Ottawa Comiccon team was hoping to be able to hold a safe and exciting event this September. However, the EY Centre will not be ready for use at the dates of our event. We wish to see you all in November to celebrate all things pop-culture during our Holiday Edition, and to come back even stronger in 2022.’’ said Scott Péron, the event’s Vice-President of Operations.
More details on the 2022 edition will be released in the coming months.
In past years, actors like Sean Astin, Tom Felton, Jason Mamoa and Ron Pearlman have attended the event.
