OPP launches new initiatives, $50,000 reward for information in murder of Carleton Place man

A rolling billboard, social media outreach and a street canvas campaign are all part of an effort to find out who killed Gregory Slewidge at a property on Scotch Corners Road, back in September of 2020.
Police unveiled a van on Thursday, October 14, that will be used to display case information, with the hope of encouraging tips in the case. The van will be visible in various communities while investigators continue to canvass door-to-door, circulating pamphlets.
Lanark County OPP officers responded to a 911 call at 1864 Scotch Corners Rd. in the Town of Beckwith on September 24, 2020. There, they found Slewidge's body.
The 39-year-old Carleton Place man had rented the property, which had been a meat packing facility, in 2017 and converted it into a legal marijuana grow operation.
Investigators say a dark-coloured sedan drove onto the property shortly before Slewidge was murdered.
“My team and I are confident that people from the Ottawa area have information that could identify the culprit or culprits responsible for the murder of Greg Slewidge and provide resolution to his family, friends and our communities,” said Detective Inspector Chris Landry.
Police explain that the victim sustained blunt force injuries and investigators believe the culprit (or culprits) may have used a hard object to inflict the injuries. There was no sign of forced entry at the location and investigators believe the suspect or suspects may have been wearing construction-type work boots.

A $50,000 reward for information is in place for information leading to arrest/conviction of Slewidge's killer(s).
Police urge anyone with information to call the dedicated tip-line at 1-844-478-5656, their local police service or CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
