Police warn of ‘high risk’ and ‘violent offender’ living in Centretown

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) are advising the Ottawa community of a man police describe as a “violent offender” currently living in the Centretown area of Ottawa.

58-year-old Timothy Leeder has been deemed a high-risk violent offender since 1994, OPS say in a recent release.

OPS believe Leeder poses a high risk to the community, women in particular. He has a history of violent behaviour including sexual and aggravated assault.

Police believe he presents a risk to the community and are concerned that he may commit similar offences in the future.

He is described as:

  • White male
  • 5 feet 8 inches tall
  • Medium build
  • Short hair, salt and pepper in colour
  • Brown eyes

According to the release from OPS, Leeder is subject to the following conditions:

  • Not to consume, purchase or possess alcohol.
  • No direct or indirect contact with past victim in Guelph, Ont. and members of their family.
  • Do not associate or communicate with any person believed to be involved in criminal activity.
  • Not to enter establishments where the primary source of income is derived from the sale or consumption of alcohol.
  • Remain within his temporary residence between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.
