By Mark Hodgins

A man is dead and a woman is severely injured after a crash near Lunenburg, N.S., over the weekend.

The RCMP says the crash happened on Highway 103 in Clearland around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say a Dodge Ram heading west on the 103 entered a construction zone where traffic was stopped by temporary traffic lights, and the driver collided with a Toyota RAV4 and then a Jeep Cherokee.

The 65-year-old Ottawa man driving the Toyota was killed at the scene. The passenger, a 64-year-old woman from Ottawa, was flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No one else was seriously injured, according to police, who also thanked bystanders who helped people at the scene of the crash.

There was no word on any charges and the investigation is ongoing.
