Firearm seized and man arrested following incident a public park

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Guns and Gangs Unit have arrested and charged a 30-year-old man following an incident with a firearm on Thursday evening.

Police responded to a call about a man who was wielding a firearm just before 7 p.m. at Dundonald Park in the Centretown area of Ottawa.

OPS say the man entered a residential building on Lyon Street. Police arrested the suspect with help from the Tactical Unit.

OPS’ Guns and Gangs Unit then arrived on scene and took possession of a firearm. No injuries were reported.

Mohamed Yare of Ottawa has been charged with multiple offences including firearms, making threats and break of conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
